Top training providers back supportive Modern Apprenticeship employers

Two of the country's best known training providers are sponsoring categories in Scotland's Modern Apprenticeship Awards, organised by Skills Development Scotland.

Now in their 12th year the Awards highlight the exceptional achievements of apprentices and employers across Scotland and all sectors.

The Modern Apprenticeship programme offers people the chance to build a sustainable career while contributing to increased productivity through workplace training.

GTG Training is sponsoring the Award's Micro Employer category which is open to companies with ten employees or fewer. The company, which is part of the Arnold Clark Group, has four decades of experience in business, computer and IT, health and safety, transport and automotive technical training and education.

This year's SME Employer category is being sponsored by CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) and is for businesses that have more than 11 but fewer than 249 employees.  The CITB supports both apprentices and employers by providing construction, management and specialist training, as well as health, safety and environment training aimed at making sites safer.

SDS Chair John McClelland, CBE, welcomed their support, saying: "The day to day working partnerships that we enjoy with GTG Training and the CITB clearly demonstrate their commitment to the Modern Apprenticeship programme. Their Awards category sponsorship shows how much they and we at SDS, value the tremendous contribution supportive employers make to the success of the Modern Apprenticeship programme."
