SCQF Credit Rating Bodies

SCQF logoThe Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) promotes lifelong learning in Scotland. It supports everyone in Scotland, including learning providers and employers by:

  • helping people of all ages and circumstances to get access to appropriate education and training so they can meet their full potential
  • helping employers, learners and the general public to understand the full range of Scottish qualifications, how qualifications relate to each other and to other forms of learning, and how different types of qualification can contribute to improving the skills of the workforce

Many courses are already credit rated and positioned within the framework. A number of organisations including awarding bodies, further education colleges and higher education universities are approved by SCQF as Credit Rating Bodies (CRBs). This allows them to credit rate their own provision as well as provision delivered by other learning providers.

Skills Development Scotland is working in partnership with SCQF to ensure all details of all credit rated provision is collected and used effectively to assist learners, learning providers and employers. CRBs can upload details of all provision that they have credit rated and positioned within the framework to the national learning opportunities database (NLOD) via the SCQF website. Credit rated provision is then available on the SCQF website course search which enables users to search for courses at specific SCQF levels.

If you are a credit rating body:

Remember to upload all provision that you have credit rated, for yourself and other organisations. Each credit rating body has a nominated contact with login details which allow them to access the secure zone and upload provision.

  •  Log in via the SCQF website to upload your SCQF credit rated provision
  • If you know of provision that has been credit rated by your organisation but has not yet been uploaded, get in touch with your organisation's CRB contact. If you are not sure who your organisation's CRB contact is, send an email to info.services@sds.co.uk

If you are a learning provider:

Make sure your provision is credit rated and has been uploaded by the relevant CRB.

  • Contact SCQF using the details below to find out more about getting your provision credit rated

In the future, Skills Development Scotland will provide greater integration between credit rated provision and other course information uploaded to NLOD via PROMT. This will allow for greater consistency across the NLOD and will make SCQF information more easily available to learners and employers.
