VAT Changes
As most people are probably already aware, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling, announced in his 2009 pre-Budget report that VAT is to be cut from 17.5% to 15% from the 1st December 2008 until the 31st December 2009. In line with these changes, we have recalculated the VAT applied to course costs currently listed on the national learning opportunities database (NLOD) to reflect the new VAT rate of 15%.
This change took place on the 1st December 2008 and at the same time, PROMT, our provider opportunity management tool, was also updated to calculate VAT at the new rate for all future submissions of course costs.
While we have made these changes automatically, learning providers should be aware that the above update to the NLOD was only applied to the numeric cost values, and as such, additional cost details which refer to inclusive VAT costs may be inaccurate as of the 1st December 2008. It is now up to learning providers to ensure that their course information remains accurate and current.
