VAT Rate Changed Back to 17.5%
The Chancellor of the Exchequer announced that VAT was to be cut from 17.5% to 15% for a limited period in his 2009 pre-Budget report. This was from 1 December 2008 until 31 December 2009.
In line with this, Skills Development Scotland has recalculated the VAT applied to course costs currently listed on the National Learning Opportunities Database (NLOD) to reflect the return to a VAT rate of 17.5%. This took place on 1 January 2010 and learning providers are not required to take any action. PROMT was also updated to calculate VAT at a rate of 17.5% for all future submissions of course costs.
Please be aware that this update to the NLOD was applied to the numeric Cost values and information in the Cost Details field referring to inclusive VAT costs may be inaccurate as of 1 January 2010. It is your responsibility as a learning provider to ensure your course information remains accurate and current. Courses listed as 0% VAT will not be affected.
