Scottish Learning Festival 2009

Scottish Learning Festival 2009

The Scottish Learning Festival (SLF) is organised by Learning and Teaching Scotland and is taking place in Glasgow at the SECC on 23-24 September 2009.

The Scottish Learning Festival was launched in 2000 and originally focused on ICT in education. Since then it has evolved and diversified and in 2006 became the all encompassing Scottish Learning Festival.

It is now the pivotal event in the education calendar, inspiring better teaching and learning, and helping to create a confident teaching profession for the 21st century.

The SLF is about teaching and learning and offers a number of opportunities to enhance the education profession by providing:

  • inspiration and new ideas
  • an opportunity to network with peers
  • a range of options to enhance the learning and teaching experience for all.

All sessions within the conference programme are aligned with the conference themes, Curriculum for Excellence and Glow. These closely linked and interdependent themes support the Scottish Government's national outcomes and Learning and Teaching Scotland's remit to lead and support improvement in the delivery of education for children and young people.

There are a variety of visitor features including Early Years Zone, the Health and Wellbeing Zone, and the Learning in Practice area along with a host of seminars available for attendees, from Understanding the New Learning Landscape to Journey to Excellence through Gaelic.

In 2008, 7023 people visited over the two days and it is hoped that the 2009 event will be an even greater success.
