Redundancy Support from PACE

PACE LogoBeing made redundant is a difficult process for anyone; but PACE (Partnership Action for Continuing Employment) is on-hand to support both individuals and businesses through the redundancy process, minimising the time people facing redundancy are out of work. In many cases it has turned redundancy into an opportunity to start an exciting new career.

This scheme brings teams of advisors from several organisations (including Skills Development Scotland and Job Centre Plus) into workplaces where redundancies are taking place. They will help workers by identifying their skills, looking at the employment market and assessing their choices, whether to retrain, apply for jobs or start their own business.

Support is also in place to help people retrain and gain work in industries that haven't been so badly affected by the recession. In Falkirk, 12 unemployed mechanical engineers were given the chance to re-train in the off-shore oil and gas industry. Not only was this was a fantastic chance for them to enter a strong sector, but helping skilled individuals quickly back into work this way also benefits the Scottish economy.
