Modern Apprenticeship Awards 2009

Apprentices, learning providers, colleges and employers have contributed significantly to the development of the Modern Apprenticeship Programme in Scotland. The 2009 Awards will showcase those who have, through their involvement in Modern Apprenticeships, demonstrated initiative, enterprise and outstanding commitment to the improvement of skills development for the Scottish economy.

Now in their 8th year, the Scottish Modern Apprenticeship Awards are a celebration of the high standards being reached by many employees, employers and learning providers involved in Modern Apprenticeships.

From Monday 17 August 2009, entries will be open for the following categories:

1. Apprentice of the Year - Traditional sector - aged 16-19
2. Apprentice of the Year - Traditional sector - aged 20 or over
3. Apprentice of the Year - Non Traditional sector - aged 16-19
4. Apprentice of the Year - Non Traditional sector - aged 20 or over
5. Small Employers - less than 50 employees 6 Medium Employers - between 50 and 249 employees
6. Large Employers - over 250 employees
7. Partnership
8. Learning Provider

This year, the awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday 9 December 2009 at the Radisson Hotel Glasgow. It will be a glittering awards ceremony and dinner where each finalist will be a VIP guest and each winner will receive a specially designed awards trophy. The Awards will be profiled in national and local press and promoted through Skills Development Scotland.

Apprentices, learning providers, colleges or employers are actively encouraged to think about entering the 2009 Awards. More information, criteria and entry details will be on the Skills Development Scotland website www.skillsdevelopmentscotland.co.uk from 17 August 2009.
