16+ Learning Choices

Innovation

Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is working in partnership with Scottish Government on the new model for ensuring that there are clear robust processes in place for ensuring that all young people completing compulsory education have an offer of an appropriate place in post 16 learning.

SDS will create a 16+ Learning Choices e-prospectus and common application process (CAP).* The national learning opportunities database (NLOD) identified by Scottish Government as the single source of learning in Scotland will be the central repository for all 16+ learning information and will feed information to the e-prospectus.

Next steps

SDS are identifying the 16+ learning provision currently on the NLOD and once established will be working with Local authorities to contact relevant learning providers who would wish to list their provision on the database. You can complete the short online application form to get ahead of the game.

  Register with Skills Development Scotland

Once your details are listed for 16+ Learning Choices you will also benefit from having them listed via other channels that the NLOD provides information to.

Support

There are various avenues of support open to you regarding engagement with the 16+ Learning Choices initiative:

  • SDS representatives will be out and about in your area meeting people face to face and hosting information sessions
  • Each local authority will have a lead contact for MCMC / 16+ Learning Choices who will co-ordinate activity
  • The Information Services team will be able to answer any questions you may have about the registration process and including your information on the NLOD and e-prospectus.

*Please note that the e-prospectus and common application process are currently working titles only.
