Elgin Library Learning Centre manager, Anne Owens, believes that learndirect scotland's National Learning Opportunities Database (NLOD) has been integral in attracting new learners to the learning centre.

"Being a part of the NLOD has definitely generated interest in the learning centre. We have found here at the learning centre that it's been extremely useful for the learning centre to be registered on the database as it means that when people call learndirect scotland's helpline looking for courses or for their nearest learning centre in the Elgin area, we will be mentioned as one of the learning centres close by," said Anne.  The learning centre offers a variety of courses at all levels, with training in computers being a popular choice for the learners who go along.

Anne added: "From an administration point of view, it's also been useful for us to have access to information on the types of courses that are requested so that we can assess how to fill any learning gaps in the courses we offer, to try to meet all our learner's needs.  I hope that in the future we will be able to expand the learning opportunities we have on offer to meet the demand of the learners, as indicated by the reports we receive from learndirect scotland."
